Kiboko24th August 2014: Well it is nearly that time again when we pay homage to the man that inspired our name – St Augustine of Hippo Regius. His Feast Day is 28th August and like last year we have brewed up a special beer to celebrate it. Well that’s not strictly true – we’ve brewed up two special beers to celebrate it!

Kiboko Pils is our hoppy lager brewed in collaboration with our good friend Mr Paul Fallen of Fallen Brewing Co. There are two versions of the beer – one dry hopped with Citra and Centennial hops and the other with Simcoe and Chinook. These combinations were personally chosen by chief Hippos Alec and Derek. We want you to tell us which is your favourite and the one that gets the most votes will hopefully become a permanent brew. We’ll set up a poll on the website and there will be voting slips in the shop. Unfortunately, there are only around 50 bottles of each beer so you’ll need to be quick to try them both! The beer launch will take place in the shop on Thursday 28th August and like last year all profits will go to charity.

Oh, and if you’re wondering where the name came from – Kiboko is a particularly wide nostrilled branch of the hippo family which makes it perfect for getting a big noseful of those hops!
